personality
likes:
I love animals, zoos, sunshine, old people, shoes, the beach, chocolate, the color orange, & tulips.
dislikes:
I do not like cold weather, animal abuse, drugs, lazy people, unorganization, when the house is dirty, when people don't do dishes, & plain cheese pizza.
fears:
I'm afraid of not following my dream to help animals and become a vet. I don't know what I will do if that doesn't happen. I am also afraid of drugs and going deeper into the ocean past my knees.
goals:
I want to become a veterinarian one day and open up my own practice. I also wish to foster dogs and take in rescues. Sponsoring my own no kill shelter so homeless dogs may have a place to sleep and be taken care of is also another dream of mine.
secrets:
I lost my virginity at the age of 15 to a 20 year old.
overall personality:
I have been described by my friends as a caring, genuine person. I like to think that I am also very passionate about things I care about. I will defend what I believe in 'til the grave. I can be very easily annoyed, especially if you are lazy and don't have any goals for yourself. I tend to not respect people like that. If I don't like a person, I can be pretty up front about it. I believe in honesty. I am generally a kind and bubbly person, though. I care about all things with four legs and anyone who hurts them definitely deserves the same treatment they put onto those sweet animals.

overall history:
I was the last child and first daughter born to William Powell and Diane Jeffries. We were a happy family as far as I can remember until I turned about nine, in which I was able to start picking up the fights and arguments that my parents got in. Our family was very tense. My eldest brother was almost sixteen and my parents didn't know how to deal with their conflicting emotions and disagreements and my brother acting out at the same time. My other brother felt he was forgotten about at the age of nearly fourteen and soon discovered the art of self harm at a very young age. I sat back and watched it all unfold, far too young to be experiencing any of this. My parents' marriage disintegrated before I was ten.
After my parents got a divorce, my mom moved to Seattle while my father stayed in Kent. Dad got us mostly, and mom got us on the weekends. It was only a half hour commute, but my brothers and I didn't want to move schools. Or homes, for that matter. Our lives were in Kent and Seattle was a big change. It was for the better though, or my mom wouldn't have met Phil. They met within a year after the divorce. Parker, the middle Powell child, didn't take it so well. He continued to harm himself frequently, but none of us really saw it as a major problem. Alan tried to tell him it was bad, but Parker would usually try to argue with him about it and they would get into fights. Anyway, my mom married Phil pretty quickly. My dad was indifferent, but he didn't really care for Phil. I got two sisters, though, and they weren't the wicked step kind either. Alicia and Anna are very sweet and I really do consider them my sisters. Phil is cool, too. So Mom really lucked out in the new husband department.
Shortly after Mom got married to Phil, my dad started taking up a lot of late shifts at the hospital. He began to work third shift in the trauma department. Alan said it was to get his mind off of Mom and Phil. Parker said he didn't care about them, Dad just wanted to get more hours in. Whatever the reason, he wasn't really present in our lives for three years. I was thirteen when Parker tried to commit suicide and my dad finally started paying attention to us.
Parker says he didn't do it for attention, and I never really thought he did do any of that stuff for attention until he was always insisting that it wasn't a cry for help, even when no one accused him of it being a call for help. Dad went back to a regular 9 to 5 job and Mom and Phil paid for Parker to go to rehab when he was 18, straight out of high school. Alan moved out before Parker attempted suicide and skipped college and went to live in Portland. He still only visits for Christmas.
Dad met Pamela when I was just turning 15. This was probably the worst year of my life. Pamela is a bitch, plain and simple. My dad knows, and knew when he met her. But that didn't stop him from meeting her every night in a hotel to have sex with her. After her husband found out, Pamela all of a sudden moved into our house. She didn't have a job and was married to some big shot CEO so it was immediately apparent to me that she was some kind of a gold digger. I kept in touch with Parker while he was in rehab, since I was always closest to him, and he always trash talked Pamela and said he couldn't wait to meet her and scare her away with his baggage. So it was just me, Dad, and Pamela living together. The only good thing about Pamela was that she brought her yorkie to live with us. His name was Boyd and he is really the reason I love animals. I had never had a dog and this was a big change for me. I took care of him and Pamela didn't really even care. I guess 15 wasn't so bad for that reason. But there was another reason that made it so awful.
I had just gotten into high school. I was in the marching band and I quickly made friends with all of the upper classmen because of my bubbly and fun personality. They thought I was sweet and funny. Well, a lot of upper classmen had friends in college and one night some of my friends invited me to a college party. I didn't say no because I thought it actually sounded fun. They got me to try a few of my first beers and soon enough I was a little drunk. I then met a guy named Ruben who I thought was super cute at the time and I was so flattered that he thought that I was, too. Before I knew it we were making out on the living room couch and none of my older friends were sober enough to stop me or anything. Don't get me wrong, Ruben didn't take advantage of me or anything, but he was way too old for me at the time. He was 20, for goodness sake. I just got way too excited to be making out with a guy and I guess he was too caught up in getting some from a girl so we both just ended up in the bedroom and that's how I lost my virginity to a guy I never really got to know or even talked to ever again.
Dad married Pamela about a year later. Alan and Parker actually attended the wedding. And Parker started to attend university as an architect major. My parents were really proud of his turn around. Alan on the other hand, had found an interest in the beatnik Portland life and continues to live that way to this day. As for me, I stayed in marching band throughout high school and kept loving on Boyd and even volunteered at shelters a lot. I really changed my mind about what I wanted to do with my life frequently. From author, to teacher, to fashion designer, and eventually I always went back to vet. So that's what I settled on for sure. When Parker moved to San Francisco for school, I really wanted to be closer to him. I also wanted to be somewhere much warmer. My parents agreed to let me go to school in Los Angeles and I was thrilled. So I've been here ever since, trying to get through school and achieve my dream of becoming a veterinarian. I love L.A. and everything it brings me.
